As with the FRIDAY THE 13th DVDs, most anyone who’s interested in the new edition of the first – and best – sequel to Clive Barker’s 80’s classic, HELLRAISER, is probably already familiar with the film. They know all about puzzle boxes and Cenobites and Pinhead. What they care about is whether or not the new, 20th Anniversary Edition from Anchor Bay is worth picking up.

Well, as usual, Anchor Bay has done an exceptional job on this, the latest addition to their collection of modern horror classics. The 1.85:1 widescreen anamorphic transfer is flawless, with sharp details, solid black levels, good contrast and no noticeable source damage or dirt. It looks better than it probably ever has.

There are also a slew of bonus features that are new to this edition, some of them having only previously been available on the U.K. versions. These include an audio commentary with director Tony Randel, writer Peter Atkins, and actor Ashley Lawrence, on-set interviews with cast, crew and creator Clive Barker, three brand-new production featurettes, an extensive interview with actor Doug Bradley – Pinhead himself, tons of trailers and TV spots, and an extensive still gallery.
